Pisani served as the masters of ceremony , with more than 450 guests in attendance .
At the Gala , Richard Clarida — PIMCO ’ s global economic advisor and former vice chairman of the Board of Governors of the US Federal Reserve System — received the Whitehead Award for Distinguished Public Service and Financial Leadership . We also honored Chuck Royce — founder , chairman and portfolio manager of Royce Investment Partners — with our Financial Innovation Award . Our 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award recognized the outstanding career of Howard Marks ,
co-chairman and co-founder of Oaktree Capital Management . And Tina Byles Williams — chief executive officer , chief investment officer and founder of Xponance — received our Special Recognition honor .
All four honorees and their introducers delivered inspiring speeches , and excerpts from their remarks can be found on page 10 . The video is also available on our website at www . moaf . org / 2024Gala . We are deeply appreciative of all of our donors and sponsors who supported this important benefit , which raised more than $ 1.5 million to fund all aspects of our mission to promote financial education by preserving , exhibiting and teaching about American finance and financial history .
The following week , we kicked off our spring program series , in partnership with the Fordham University Gabelli Center for Global Security Analysis and the CFA Society New York . This season features 10 virtual and in-person events , including a full house on April 16 for a conversation between CNN host Fareed Zakaria and Eurasia Group President Ian Bremmer on Zakaria ’ s new book , Age of Revolutions : Progress and Backlash from 1600 to the
Present . Our next in-person program will be the “ Tribute to the Life and Career of Charlie Munger ” panel on June 4 . Details on all of our upcoming programs can be found at www . moaf . org / events , and videos from past events are available at www . moaf . org / videos .
The spring session of our Museum Finance Academy ( MFA ) for high school juniors and seniors is also currently underway , running from April 9 through May 14 . There was an impactful moment at the Gala when a young alum shared his experience with our MFA program years ago and discussed how it influenced his choice to work within the investment industry . Scholarship recipients from our spring MFA will be announced in the summer issue of our magazine .
As we look towards the summer , our plans include the launch of our official traveling exhibit ( see page 5 ) and the continuation of our “ Investing A to Z ” financial education series for adults , in partnership with the New York Public Library . This free series will run every Tuesday at noon from July 9 through August 27 .
We hope you will join us and help spread the word about the many free programs we continue to offer to audiences of all ages and backgrounds .
